Edgar Allan Poe boots!

 

Are there any Edgar Allan Poe fans out there? If you are one, then you've got to see these knee-high boots I've been painting! Pictured above is what the boots looked like before.

 

  

 

That's just the left boot! The right boot looks like this now...

 The old man's blind eye is a reference to The Tell Tale Heart. "And then, when my head was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously –oh, so cautiously –cautiously (for the hinges creaked) –I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon {his} vulture eye."

Atypical Princesses

This is Sleep Walking Beauty. She's not your typical princess. She sleeps the days away and sleep walks the darkened halls at night. And as you can imagine, like every other person who sleeps as much as her, she get serious bed-head, dark circles under her eyes, and a bunch of drool slapped across her face!

This is Cinderblock Ella. She's happy because she just got back from the ball at which the Prince fell quickly in love with her beautiful eyes and cinder block foot. (She lost her foot long ago to some hungry rats who she thought were her friends!) Now the Prince is trying to find the beautiful young maiden who stole his heart... as well as his glass wheel barrow which she took in order to make a speedy get away before midnight.

In case you couldn't guess, this is Marie Antoinette. And yes, I know she was a queen and not a princess. ;)

A royal know for her saying, "Let them eat cake" when referring to the starving peasants, chokes on her own words or should I say a piece of ironic cake! 

Each 9x12'' illustration print is signed by the artist with the title on the back and has a thick white border around the illustration to make for easier framing. A Smooth Sea

 

A stunning morning sunrise on the beach in Brighton, England. Jetlagged from the flight the day before, my husband and I woke up early to take a stroll along the beach. This glorious display of color from God's divine hand made me long to be adventurous out on the open sea.

My First Shoe Show is Coming Soon!

Hey there! Just a quick update on what's happening in the life of Miranda Marie (me!). I've been working like crazy, getting shoes ready for my upcoming show in just a few days. The show will be this weekend (September 28-29) at the Heritage Craft Fair in Fair Grove, MO. I'm so excited!

Shanna Marie's wedding shoes!

Tomorrow (8/24/13) is Shanna & Mike's wedding! So in honor of their Big Day, I'm posting some of the pictures of the shoes I painted for Shanna which she will be walking down the aisle in tomorrow! Congratulations, Shanna & Mike!

So, a little bit about this lovely couple: they live on the beach in Florida, they got engaged in the Swiss Alps (so romantic!), they have three beautiful kids and and adorable yorkie.

I painted the Swiss Alps scene from a picture Shanna took on their trip. Kuddos to Mike for proposing to Shanna in the Alps! 

The front of the shoes really needed something eye-catching, so I added lots of rhinestones. Shanna was very happy with the result!

This is Shanna's favorite quote. "If I had to live my life over, I would find you sooner so that I could love you longer!"

DIY 50's style Oxford Saddle Shoes!

 

In case you were wondering, my absolute favorite decade is the 1950's and this summer, my favorite summer camp (Camp Siloam) and my favorite decade are combining! This summer's camp theme is the 50's, so in honor of Camp Siloam... here is a very easy DIY project to make 50's shoes!

To start, you'll need some cheap white lace-up shoes (I found mine at Walmart for less than $5.50) and some permanent markers (fine point and ultra fine point).

Begin drawing the outline of the design with the ultra fine point permanent marker.

The design is the same on the other side.

Here's the back side.

Now that the outline is done, you can start filling in the black with the fine point permanent marker.

Almost done!

And there you go!

Here's what they should look like from the front. Great job!

P.S. Here's another version of the shoes. Be the hostess with the mostest and give 'em a try!

Lauren's Wedding Shoes: A Black & White Formal Affair!

Today (4/27/13) is Lauren & Chris's wedding! So in honor of their Big Day, I'm posting some of the pictures of the shoes I painted for Lauren which she will be walking down the aisle in today! Congratulations, Lauren & Chris!

This is a portrait of Macie, Lauren's beautiful little girl.

Lauren told me early on that I could never make them TOO sparkly. So, I added lots of rhinestones. Here are some gorgeous dragonflies I added to the shoes. What do you think?
