Diaper Bag Commission! Sneak Peek!

I'm so excited! I got a commission to paint a diaper bag with a Noah's Ark theme for a baby shower!

I decided to illustrate a picture of a stylized dove flying back to Noah on the ark with an olive leaf in his mouth, with animals popping their heads out windows. The bag will become the ark, so the ark, water, and animals will be painted all the way around the bag! Here's my initial sketch...

And here's what it looks like right now.

This is just the first layer of paint, but I'm really happy with the way it is looking already. The ark is soon to come. :)

Featured Artist: Elena from Velanch Jewelry (for Imaginary Wedding Wednesday)

I wanted to share with you all an incredible artist I found on Etsy named Elena. She makes some of the most beautiful beaded and sequined accessories I've ever seen! Everything in her store is handmade by Elena (I can't even imagine the time and effort she puts into each thing).

Her designs range from beautifully simple:

to stunningly difficult. This beaded poppy belt would be a gorgeous accessory to a wedding dress!

She also creates fun jewelry like these great wreath earrings:

New Idea for a Hand Painted Diaper Bag! What do you think?

I recently bought a brand new brown diaper bag and thought, "Why not paint a beautiful baby face on it?" I was instantly inspired by the very talented Frances Hook who did the Northern Tissue baby portrait series from 1959 called "American Beauties". Here's one of the portraits!

Isn't she cute?! My family owned prints of these pictures and I remember loving them as a kid.
Tell me what you think? Do you have any preferences as to the hair color or eye color? If you do, let me know! :)
